Professor; Associate Center Director for Population Sciences at the Karmanos Cancer Institute (KCI)
Dr. Terrance Albrecht a Professor of Oncology at Wayne State University School of Medicine as well as the Associate Center Director for Population Sciences at the Karmanos Cancer Institute. Dr. Albrect provides leadership for social/behavioral and epidemiological research to address cancer health disparities in southeast Michigan. Dr. Albrecht’s NIH-funded research program has investigated how psychological and interactional processes and structures affect the cancer experience of patients, family members and providers. In community contexts, her work focuses on address cancer disparities in older, underserved urban African American adults in metropolitan Detroit. In clinical contexts, she studies the observed clinical communication processes that influence treatment decision-making and other behavioral, psychosocial and health outcomes of adult and pediatric patients and their families.
