Dr. Rebecca Hasson is an Asssistant Professor of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology as well as an Assistant Professor of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Dr. Hasson is also the Director of the Childhood Disparities Research Center. She received her Ph.D. in Kinesiology and her M.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Hasson utilizes a transdisciplinary research approach, integrating her previous training in exercise physiology, energy metabolism, pediatric endocrinology, health disparities, and social epidemiology to: (1) identify the causes and consequences of pediatric obesity; (2) examine the environmental determinants that contribute to racial/ethnic disparities in obesity-related metabolic risk factors; and (3) use that information to develop behavioral interventions and inform health policies designed to reduce obesity in pediatric populations.
