Dr. Michelle Riba is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan as well as the Director of the Psycho-Oncology Program at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is also the Associate Chair for Integrated Medical and Psychiatric Services and Associate Director of the University of Michigan Depression Center. She received her M.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and her M.S. in Organic Chemistry from St. John's University. She is interested in the interface between physical health and mental health, such as depression and anxiety and chronic illness. Dr. Riba has worked extensively to develop screening tools to identify signs of emotional distress among cancer patients with the ultimate goal of improving patients’ quality of life during and after cancer.
