Dr. Michele Heisler is a Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School and a Professor of Health Behavior and Health Education at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She is also a Research Scientist at the VA Center for Clinical Management Research and a Co-Director of the National Clinician Scholars Program. She received her M.D. from Harvard Medical School and her M.P.H. from Princeton Unviersity. Dr. Heisler has expertise in the development and evaluation of innovative health system-based interventions to increase and extend between-clinic visit chronic disease self-management support to improve chronic disease outcomes. She is leading a range of US and Latin-America-based interventions, with a focus on resource-poor, underserved communities.
