The mission of the Joy-Southfield Community Development Corporation is neighborhood revitalization through family life-skill support and community economic development. Joy Southfield provides free primary and preventive health care for the uninsured, community gardening and a farmers market, home ownership support, home foreclosure prevention, youth and family mentoring, local economic development, and business improvement programming. Joy-Southfield works to positively impact the lives of youth and families by creating healthy and safe environments within which to live. In order to broadly promote health equity, Joy-Southfield is developing a community-centered health home model (http://www.preventioninstitute.org/component/jlibrary/article/id-298/127.html). In order to increase healthcare capacity and scope of services, Joy-Southfield is developing a hybrid safety net with a co-located free clinic and federally qualified health center (Covenant Community Care operating a new access point at Joy-Southfield).
