The Eastside Community Network (formerly known as the Warren/Conner Development Coalition) acts as a catalyst to improve the quality of life on Detroit’s Eastside through collaboration with local partners and community-focused projects. For nearly 30 years, this organization has collaborated on several community initiatives, for example by: serving as a founding partner for the Detroit Eastside Community Collaborative (DECC), a consortium of over 20 Eastside community development organizations and institutions, created in 1992; hosting the offices of the Conner Creek Greenway, a nine-mile long shared use path along Conner from Eight Mile to the Detroit River; supporting after-school youth development with Youth Art Rocks, artistic and recreational classes for youth; and working with Project GROW to nurture community farming and development of food related businesses on the Eastside including opening the Eastside Farmers Market. The Eastside Community Network applies a number of community education strategies ranging from community forums to community study groups. The Online Pipeline newspaper and Eastside Technology Hub, a 24-station state-of-the-art computer and video conferencing center, serve as community connections and resources.
