Bruce Pietrykowski, PhD

Professor, Economics; Director, Urban and Regional Studies Program; Director, Center for Labor and Community Studies

Bruce Pietrykowski is Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, as well as the Director of Urban and Regional Studies and Director of the Center for Labor and Community Studies. He is also a research scientist at the Institute for Research on Labor, Employment and the Economy at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. From 1996 until 2001, he directed a cooperative venture between University of Michigan-Dearborn, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, the United Auto Workers, and the Ford Motor Company that provided distance learning adult education opportunities to automotive industry workers. From 2000 until 2007, he was the founding director of the Center for the Study of Automotive Heritage at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He is currently conducting research on low-wage workers, industrial restructuring, and alternative models of local economic development.
