Lisa Lau is a current doctoral canddiate in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She received her M.P.H. in Health Economics from the University of Cape Town. Her past research has focused on creating, implementing and evaluating novel interventions to deliver chronic disease screening, particularly in areas where the infrastructure to carry out conventional laboratory tests is often unavailable. She is also interested in various aspects of human-computer interactions, such as exploring user interfaces for low-cost devices, adapting content and applications to local languages and education levels, and understanding social relationships and information flows in disadvantaged societies. Her current research project is focused on developing and evaluating a web-based lung cancer screening decision tool that helps to inform individuals about the potential harms/benefits of low-dose CT screening.
